[olug] what is sftp-server?

One more ssh related question...

What is the sftp-server? It is invoked at the end of my
/etc/ssh/sshd_config file. Is it the same as scp... does it enable the
use of someone to scp to/from this host? or is it another process
entirely?

Reason is: I've always wanted a 'secure' ftp server/client and the
pickings are still slim. I would like to 'ftp' into a host, and browse
the files, and dnld the ones I want, perhaps even with a gui! scp lacks
these abilities to my knowledge. And if this does act like an ftp server,
why aren't there gui clients for it?

just wondering, peace

Brian
