[olug] rsync converts UPPER to lower case?

Ok..

I just started using "rsync" today to backup files locally. nice. =) but I
have some directories with names in ALL CAPS, and when rsync copied them
over to my new directory... they were all lowercase ... folders, files and
extensions.

??? Why ???  please help!

I see no mention of this in the man pages nor on a quick google.  Is there
anyway around this that anyone knows?  I dont know why the file names
would be changed?  It also makes all of my files executable??

any help would be appreciated. thanks
