ny suggestions on which codec to use to store 1/2 hour of home video
per 700MB CD?

I've already ruled out DivX because it isn't auto installed with all
viewers by default. I prefer mpeg1 or 2 but am not sure of which would
be better. I'm thinking mpeg2 as long as I can choose a bitrate that
many DVD players would decompress. My DVD player will decompress high
bitrate mpeg1 video when the disc is formatted as a VCD. It does not do
a good job though. I'm wondering if I can use the super VCD standard
(mpeg2) and have better luck with my DVD player. It might just handle
mpeg2 better.

This is all a project to help my parents/in laws be able to enjoy my
son more. None of them have high speed internet so downloading large
videos is out. I will burn a CD and send it to them so they can watch
on the PC. Is anybody else doing this?

Later
Eric
