Make sure there a for loop for the /etc/profile.d/* files in either /etc/profile or /etc/bashrc  Also check the
permissions on these files:
/etc/profile.d/colorls.sh
/etc/DIR_COLORS


I can't see how people can tolerate the colors though.  They hurt my eyes!.   I delete these file upon install and alias
ls='ls -hF' and "set visible-stats on" in /etc/inputrc.
