Only problem with the -k option for dhcpcd is if you are trying to get a new
ip address, the -k option doesn't clear your cache and will try and use the
same IP that you had.  If this IP has been taken already I think the client
errors out but not positive on that.

You should be able to do :
dhcpcd -k
then
dhcpcd eth0

type ifconfig to check

In windows you can run 'ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew" to release
the ip address on a dhcp client.  what is the equivalent in the linux
world?
