A good friend of mine attended the installfest and got redhat 7.3 loaded. He said there were some issues getting his xfree86 running so I told him to bring it by my house. What follows are the steps we used to get it working.

We ran XFree86 -configure. This generates an XF86Config file in your current directory. I don't rember the extension it adds but it is a unique file. It also prints the command line to test the X server against the file. We ran the test and the X server cam up at 640x480 with a much larger virtual desktop. Next we changed the Screen section. Bellow are the lines we added
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
