Speaking of this, 4 questions:
1. Can you make "Backups" of your DVD movies?
2. Is it legal?
3. Will this work under Windoz?
4. Do you have a recommendation for a drive?

Somebody in this thread mentioned a DVD-RW drive.

FYI:

There are a few different types of DVD available.
DVD-R
DVD-RW
DVD+R
DVD+RW

For video purposes, older DVD players can only read DVD-R. If you
want
to purchase one for video use make sure you pay attn to what your DVD
player will read vs. what you are purchasing for a DVD burner.

Some newer DVD players can read all the formats.

Somebody with more knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong but this is
what I've noticed.

There is DVD burning software for linux.
