A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far way, someone said...

They're less useless; I consider them to be more of a guide to setting up
a LDAP directory service.

How would that be a problem? The schema the scripts use exist in OpenLDAP
2.

What information are you trying to store in this "autofs.schema" - I don't
see any reference to it on the PADL web page.

My response?

I don't know what systems are in place at this site, but for many, it's
NIS or not at all.

I don't know squat about qmail-ldap. Unfortunately I'm not aware of
anyplace with any real meat regarding maintenance of a directory service
running on LDAP.

Sun (as part of Solaris 7 & 8) & iPlanet use LDAP pretty heavily, or at
least can. Perhaps it's a place to start.
