1) Go with one of the Athlons.  Avoid the P4.
2) Try to avoid DIT.  Shop online!  pricewatch.com+resellerratings.com
can nab you some pretty good deals at places much better than DIT.
However, I *can* understand trying to buy from a local place...

For the Athlon motherboard, I say go with the Asus.  It's generally
considered to be a metter unit than the BioStar.

tomshardware.com and anandtech.com can be useful in determining what's
good and what's not.
