[olug] Cox is demanding DHCP

As a thoroughly disgusted cox customer, perhaps I can provide a reason
to avoid dhcp on cox.

A few years ago, I got some help during at an OLUG installfest getting
my firewall going with an older version of RH. It was easier to pretend
I had a static IP. Worked great (still does).

When I last looked into upgrading my firewall, the current version of
RH at that time used "pump" (instead of dhcp). I could never get pump
to identify the host to cox (the only way to get their dhcp server to
recognize you). So, I stuck with what worked.

Does RH (or any other distro) now have a cox-compatible dhcp client?
If so, I'd entertain upgrading. I'm ready to replace the old firewall
(a pentium100) with a newer one (p200mmx) anyway.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Joe
