[olug] 256 Meg DIMMS-FYI

I figured out why the 256 meg DIMM I have only registers as
128 meg on my ABit board. Commodity grade DIMMS are high density and are
made for motherboards that accept up to 512 meg chips per slot. I
need low density chips for my board. All I need to do is either sell this chip
or get another motherboard that will accept the 256 meg chip
for what it is. What a relief.

Also I about dropped dead when I saw the price of DIMM chips.
Can you say less than 30 pennies a meg? Holy Cow! It could be
time to start building another monster.

Paul
