[OLUG] failures

Also, if you don't get ANY output from the "ping olug.bstc.net" command,
Ctrl+C to kill that, as well.

FWIW, if you have more than one nameserver, you should have two 'nameserver'
lines in /etc/resolv.conf, e.g.

nameserver 192.168.1.1
nameserver 192.168.1.2

Also, you can simplify your life quite a bit by running the netcfg program
(redhat only, I think :-( )
You can specify most everything you need from this control panel
program...including nameservers.

Sorry for the confusion, the numbers given you by Radiks are in fact what I
meant when I said 'DNS IP number' or whatever. Just a difference in wording
choice ;-)

If you're testing different things out, you can use ping to see if stuff
works. (A little quicker than netscape)
e.g.

ping olug.bstc.net

Then it should output stuff like:

PING olug.bstc.net (207.239.221.11): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 207.239.221.11: icmp_seq=0 ttl=243 time=241.9 ms
64 bytes from 207.239.221.11: icmp_seq=1 ttl=243 time=185.9 ms

If you see this, you know that your machine could successfully resolve
olug.bstc.net. control-C to kill this (it will go on forever)

--- olug.bstc.net ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 33% packet loss

^^^^^^^^^^^^
round-trip min/avg/max = 185.9/213.9/241.9 ms

Oops. Looks like our net connectino sucks today. :-(
